I am very fortunate as a glassmaker to have the benefit of a well rounded education; from performance to ceramics, from sculpture to portraiture. However being accomplished has no benefit if there is no application of skills.
I am now a glassmaker, and relishing the fascinating qualities of big thick glass, pure colours and intriguing facets. The energy behind the work is infinitely more important than the work itself – a challenging notion for an industry based on repetition and skills based practice.
I have a fierce passion for exploring the possible. The discipline of working in hot glass coupled with the running of a business fuels my engagement as a practicing artist with a love of all things stripey and an inherent need for structure.
