Glass Workshops

Furnace work and other kinds of hot glass - too late!

Glass Manifesto ran a series of amazing workshops from 2003 until the very end of 2010. When it comes to good things - don't let time be your excuse! Glass Manifesto has now moved out of Cleaver Street. So until further notice our workshop programme has been cancelled for 2011 & 2012.
Unless otherwise stated all workshops are geared towards the absolute beginner - no experience necessary.

Beginners Paperweights

No experience necessary. A must for anyone who loves hot glass. This delightful class will take you through the many and varied steps necessary to complete a series of paperweights. This workshop is a weekend AND an evening follow up. Not easy or cheap but sooo satisfying. All supplies and lunches included. Due to demand we offer this class on a first paid-first in basis.

Beginners Glass Blowing

Offered ONLY to those who have completed the Beginners Paperweights. Anne invites you back for a closer look at furnace glass. You must have previous ‘hot shop’ experience. Not for the sensitive or faint hearted. This class is offered only to those who have satisfactorily demonstrated mental and physical competency, an ability to listen and follow instructions as well as a sense of humour - you'll need it.
Please discuss your suitability with us if you are considering joining this class.  This class will be scheduled to suit the participants.

Supervised Practice Sessions

Have you done a hot glass workshop with us before? Talk to Anne about supervised practice sessions on Wednesday Evenings. Please note: this is not further training, these sessions are designed to consolidate the skills already learned.

Mini Workshop Club

Only for those who have done a hot glass workshop with us before! These tutorials help increase your palette of hot glass skills. Pay up front - choose four from the list. Or pay a little more for the individual classes. These will be run on Saturday Afternoons 2-6pm Sorry this asterix* means you have to have completed the glassblowing to do these workshops.
These workshops will hone your skills and get you looking at creating your own practice OR just to satisfy your greedy need to know how everything is made

Cane Making

Taking those skills one step further and making your own cane and basic murrine - perfect for those people who also are kiln formers and flameworkers.

Coloured Votive Holders*

What colours will you choose? A whole session on making votive holders in all the colours of the rainbow. (learn coloured overlay)

Baubles*

Baubles can be made for all purposes, from Christmas to Christenings. In this workshop we look at colour and shape. (Excellent discipline)

Mini Candle Holders

Really just a press mould workshop with a twist! (very popular!)

Sandcasting

The most simple and effective way of making sculpture in glass

Small Sculptures - with add ons.

A tricky little workshop where it all comes together at the end! A great combination with the cane making.

Goblets*

We teach you simple ways of using your skills to make vessels for drinking - perfect for celebrating

Perfume Bottles*

Not exactly in the style of Givenchy but these charming little fellas make the perfect accompaniment on any dressing table. (Even the staff do this one)
